First Helldivers 2 Patch Since PSN Fiasco Makes Much-Needed DOT and Scope Fixes – IGN

Helldivers 2’s first patch since the PSN login failure is now out, making some much-needed fixes to the game.

Highlights here include a fix for Helldivers 2’s nasty damage over time (DOT) issue, a fix for misaligned scopes, and a fix for the R-9 Eruptor to combat a shrapnel issue that was killing players.

Patch 1.000.302, now out for PC and PlayStation 5, is the first to launch since Sony’s dramatic U-turn on the Helldivers 2 PSN login requirement, which sparked a backlash in the game’s PC community. Developer Arrowhead will be looking to put last week’s events behind it, with Sony now sticking to the demand of PC gamers, although CEO Johan Pilsted admitted the studio has work to do to restore player confidence.

To that end, Helldivers 2 fixes are still coming thick and fast, with this latest following last week’s big balance update. Helldivers 2’s next Premium Warbond, Polar Patriots, launches on May 9.

Helldivers 2 update 1.000.302 patch notes:

Balancing
Primary, secondary and auxiliary weapons

R-9 Eruptor

  • Increased explosion damage by 40 and removed shrapnel from the explosion

This is to avoid cases where players would randomly shoot themselves or their teammates in a huge radius around the explosion
Enemies

  • Slightly increased Shrieker’s vision and hearing range.
  • Slightly increased Gunship hearing range

Corrections

A game

  • Fixed issues with how damage effects were applied over time. This should fix issues where only the network session owner could apply them, and other cases where they would be applied inconsistently.
  • Firing Punisher Plasma while wearing a shield backpack no longer damages the Helldiver
  • Fixed issues with some weapon scopes not aligning in first person view.
  • The boost sound no longer plays while paused
  • Large orders with “Task of Destruction” now track the result correctly. Previously, it counted the kills of the entire squad once for each player, which meant it would multiply the score by the number of people in the mission; this has already been amended.
  • Helldivers can no longer land on high cliffs in Horde Defend missions
  • Helldivers can no longer land on bug pillars in missions to disable the Terminid control system
  • Fix missing boost strategy if Helldiver leaves session before readying and then hot joins active session

Crashes

  • Fixed a crash that could occur when all players are dead in the mission “Disabling the Terminal Control System”
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when shutting down the game
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when leaving the mission and rejoining
  • Fixed a crash that could occur at the end of cutscenes
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when diving into missions
  • Fixed tutorial crash that could occur on PC when ALT+Tabbing
  • Fixed a rare crash that could occur when using beam weapons
  • Fixed a rare crash that could occur for players on startup when using a VPN
  • Fixed a soft lock that could occur if a player opened text chat while having a cheat menu open
  • Other general crash fixes

Social menu fixes

  • PC players adding friends via friend codes can no longer show as “Unknown”
  • Fixed overlapping footers in menus
  • Steam friends should now be visible in the social menu, even though the friends list is not set to Public in the Steam privacy settings
  • The recent players list will now include hot-joined players
  • Players can now unblock players who were not on their friends list before
  • Fixed an issue with empty friend names in the social menu
  • The lobby privacy mode text is updated immediately when changed
  • Player names longer than 26 characters should now update correctly in the social menu
  • Fixed an issue where non-host players could kick others indiscriminately, including the host

others

  • The total purchases counter on the right side of the Robotics Workshop section no longer shows 7 / 8 even though all the contraptions have been purchased
  • Fixed some edge cases related to Steam AppId login errors
