Hey gang! Welcome to the start of a new week. I hope it is excellent for you.

Today’s NYT Kitchuri tips, spangram and answers come right away.

How to play Strands

New York Times’ Kitchuri The puzzle is a classic word search game. It’s in beta for now, which means it’ll only stay around if enough people play it every day.

There is a new game on Kitchuri to play every day. The game will present you with a six by eight grid of letters. The goal is to find a group of words that have something in common, and you’ll get an idea of what that theme is. When you find a topic word, it will remain highlighted in blue.

You will also need to find a special word called a spangram. This tells you what the words have in common. Spangram connects at least two sides of the board, but may not start or end there. Although the subject words will not be a proper name, spangram can be a proper name. When you find a spangram, it will remain highlighted in yellow.

Each letter is used once in one of the theme words and spangram. You can connect letters vertically, horizontally and diagonally, and it is possible to switch directions in the middle of a word. If you’re playing on a touchscreen, double-tap the last letter to submit your guess.

If you find three valid words of at least four letters that are not part of the theme, you will unlock the Hint button. Clicking on this will highlight the letters that make up one of the theme’s words.

Be warned: you’ll need to be on your feet. Sometimes you will need to fill in the missing word(s) in a phrase. On other days, the game may revolve around synonyms or homophones. The difficulty will vary from day to day and the puzzle creators will try to surprise you sometimes.

Here’s where you’ll find it on the web…

The rest of today Kitchuri the topic words are…

  • HUSKY
  • BOXER
  • Hound
  • SHEPHERD
  • CARS
  • BEAGLE
  • POODLE

Here’s what the finished mesh looks like…

My strategy of looking for words in the corners paid off immediately when I saw HUSKY on the left rail and then BOXER next to it. So it was obvious that I was looking for dog breeds. This is timely given that the Westminster Dog Show is currently taking place.

I found HOUND and SHEPHERD before spangram, then the rest of the words without needing a hint.

I didn’t use any hints and spangram was the fifth theme word I found.

That’s all for today Kitchuri clues and answers. Be sure to check out my blog for tips and a walkthrough for Tuesday’s game if you need them.
