Microsoft has announced the Xbox Game Pass Wave 2 lineup for May 2024, headlined by Ninja Theory’s Hellblade 2.
The first on May 15 is the puzzle adventure game Chants of Sennaar (cloud, console and PC). Then, on May 16, EA Sports NHL 24 will be available with Xbox Cloud Gaming through EA Play. Also via EA Play, on May 16th magical first-person shooter Immortals of Aveum (Cloud, PC and Xbox Series X|S) will arrive on PC Game Pass and Ultimate. IGN’s review for IGN Immortals of Aveum gave it an 8/10. We said: “Immortals of Aveum is an impressively confident first-person shooter with a hearty solo campaign and fast-paced, spellbinding combat that’s spectacular to watch.”
This month’s big release is undoubtedly Hellblade 2, which launches straight to Game Pass on Cloud, PC and Xbox Series X|S on May 21st. Check out IGN’s Hellblade 2 preview to find out why it’s shaping up to be another beautiful nightmare. We also found a big discount for three months on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, but that will expire soon.
May 23rd will be Brightrock Games’ Galacticare (Cloud, PC, Xbox Series X|S) as another Day One Game Pass release. According to the official blurb: “You are the director of Galacticare, an interstellar healthcare company and quasi-volunteer savior of the Galaxy (for money). Build hospitals and recruit staff to cater to the whims of various alien species and treat their strange ailments. Save (literally) the galaxy in story mode or head to the sandbox to design the hospital of your dreams.”
Also on May 23, Hauntii (Cloud, Console, and PC) hits Game Pass as a Day One release. You play a brave but naive little ghost, Hauntii, and set off on a mission led by enigmatic Eternians. “Own, solve puzzles and shape your destiny in this compelling adventure,” reads the official announcement.
Moving on, on May 28 Moving Out 2 (cloud, console, and PC) joins Game Pass. IGN’s review of Moving Out 2 gave it an 8/10. We said: “Moving Out 2 is a colorful and chaotic co-op sequel that forces you to bend your knees as you alternately split your sides.”
Action puzzle game Humanity (Cloud, Console and PC) is coming to Game Pass on May 30th. IGN’s review of Humanity gave it a 9/10. We said: “Humanity is a beautiful, modern reimagining of Lemmings that combines many different genres in its clever puzzles, and its powerful level editor has dizzying potential.”
Also on May 30 is another big hit: Lords of the Fallen (Cloud, PC and Xbox Series X|S). Lords of the Fallen is a dark fantasy action RPG published by CI Games in 2023 to critical and commercial acclaim. IGN’s Lords of the Fallen review gave it an 8/10. We said: “Lords of the Fallen is a great soulslike with a fantastic dual-reality premise, even if performance flaws and weak bosses spoil the party.”
Microsoft also announced two games coming to Game Pass on June 4: horror puzzle game Firework (PC) and Rolling Hills (Cloud, Console, and PC), the latter of which is a Day One Game Pass release.
