Every big announcement and trailer from Summer Game Fest 2024

It’s going to be a hot summer… for video games! Host Geoff Keighley’s annual showcase for what’s next in the gaming world, Summer Game Fest, kicked off on Friday with a two-hour extravaganza of game trailers, announcements and surprise reveals.

In addition to Capcom’s new look Monster Hunter WildsAtlas Metaphor: ReFantazioand Funcom Dune: Awakening, viewers got a lot of new games and a first look at the gameplay. Here’s everything big announced at Summer Game Fest 2024.

Lego Horizon Adventures

Aloy’s adventures through the post-apocalyptic wasteland just got a lot… cuter? And stupid! Lego Horizon Adventures is an isometric, Lego-based take on Guerrilla Games’ open-world adventure series, and is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC later this year.

Harry Potter Quidditch Champions

The multiplayer Quidditch game set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter is coming this summer. Our first look at Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions also comes with a release date: The game will come to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on September 3. It will be available through PlayStation Plus on day one.

The developer behind the horror train game Choo Choo Charles revealed cuff, a cute, chaotic prison escape game where you play as Jailiens trying to escape the hoosegow. Coming out in 2025.

Sid Meier’s Civilization 7

The next entry in the Civilization series is finally official. Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 will bring back the great historical series of turn-based strategy games 4X and destroy your sleep schedule when it releases on PC and consoles in 2025.

Street Fighter 6 year 2 characters lead Capcom against SNK

The Street fighter 6 the roster expands with M. Bison (this summer), Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard (fall), and Mai Shiranui (winter 2025), and Street fighter 3Elena on (Spring 2025), Capcom revealed at the Summer Game Fest.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero

The Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi series returns with Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero this fall. The high-profile fighting game is coming to PS5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X on October 11.

Fatal Rage: City of Wolves

New trailer for SNK Fatal Rage: City of Wolves confirms an early 2025 release window for PC, PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series X, as well as showing new fighters B. Jenet and Vox Reaper in action.

Monster Hunter Wilds

Capcom has already shown many of the Monster Hunter Wilds, the next game in the open world action-adventure hunting franchise. At Summer Game Fest, Monster Hunter fans learned even more thanks to an appearance by series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and a new trailer. Tsujimoto promised another look at Monster Hunter Wilds later this summer at Gamescom Opening Night Live.

Metaphor: ReFantazio

Persona fans, take note. Atlus and Studio Zero revealed more about Metaphor: ReFantaziotheir new turn-based fantasy strategy game with a new trailer and release date: October 11 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X.

Six titles from Blumhouse Games

Blumhouse, the movie production company that turns indie budget horror movies into blockbuster hits (most of the time), is getting into gaming. At Summer Game Fest, Blumhouse Games’ new division revealed its first projects: Crisol Theater of Idols by Vermila Studios, Grave seasons by Perfect Garbage, Sun Buden by Eyes Out, Be afraid of the spotlight by Cozy Game Pals, The simulation by PlayMeStudio and Project C by Sam Barlow and Brandon Cronenberg.

Alan Wake 2: Night Springs

More Alan Wake is coming. Remedy’s first extension for Alan Wake 2 presents “mysterious, terrifying and strange what-if scenarios,” says Sam Lake with clarity Twilight Zone atmosphere. Alan Wake 2: Night Springs it will be out this weekend.

Phantom Blade 0

S-Game’s new trailer for action hero game Phantom Blade 0 looked more Sekiro– like never before at Summer Game Fest.

Slitterhead

The new horror game from the former developers of Silent Hill and Siren might not be what you expected, but Slitterhead has some fascinating design choices, such as the ability to make machine guns, swords, spears and claws out of human blood to fight horribly mutated human beings. Slitterhead also has a release date: November 8th.

Dune: Awakening

Funcom’s Dune survival MMO continues to look great, and in a new story-filled trailer we take a look at the setting for Dune: Awakening: a universe without Paul Atreides.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind

A new Power Rangers game from Digital Eclipse, the developer increasingly known for its carefully researched and lavishly presented collections of archival retro games, was revealed at Summer Game Fest. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind takes classic moments from the show and wraps them in retro gameplay styles with a time travel twist.

Cairn

The creators behind Fury and Haven have revealed their next project, an intense looking and stylish mountain climbing game named Cairn.

Wanderstop

Annapurna Interactive and Ivy Road — which was created by Davey Vredden, creator of The Stanley ParableCarla Zimonja, creator of Gone Home and Tacomaand Daniel “C418” Rosenfeld, the composer behind the music of Minecraft – revealed Wanderstop, which they describe as a “narrative-driven cozy change and tea game.” As a fallen warrior Alta, “you run a tea shop in a magical forest and take care of the customers who walk through it,” something she doesn’t really want to do. Sounds like there’s another layer to this one… Wanderstop coming to PlayStation 5 and PC.

Sonic X Shadow Generations

Sega’s remaster of Sonic Generationsnow with additional Shadow the Hedgehog, coming October 25th.

Valorant is coming to PS5 and Xbox

Riot Games’ tactical team-based shooter makes the leap from PC to console. ValorantThe PS5 and Xbox Series X versions launch later this year, with a limited beta test starting on June 14.

Hyper Light Breaker

Heart Machine gave Hyper Light Drifter fans a long and tantalizing look at the 3D sequel, Hyper Light Breakerand it brought some good news: The new game is coming to Steam Early Access this summer.

Delta Force: Hawk Ops

Delta Force: Hawk Ops is the latest installment in the classic shooter franchise Delta Force and this one features multiplayer PvP, extraction mode and a complete remaster of the original Delta Force: Black Hawk Down video game based on the film by Ridley Scott.

Neva

Summer Game Fest gave us a look Neva“emotionally charged action-adventure” from the developer of Gris. According to the game’s official description, “Neva tells the story of Alba, a young woman who bonds with a curious wolf after a traumatic encounter with dark forces. Together they embark on a perilous journey through a once beautiful world that is slowly crumbling around them.”

Black Myth: Wukong

Action game Black Myth: Wukong is a great looking game, but the latest trailer is all CG. The PC game is coming on August 20th.

Kunitsu-Gami: The Way of the Goddess

A fantasy strategy action game by Capcom Kunitsu-Gami: The Way of the Goddess got a surprise (surprisingly soon) release date: July 19th.
