Xbox Games Showcase and Black Ops 6 Direct June 2024: Everything Announced – IGN

Microsoft just wrapped up its June 2024 Xbox Games reveal, revealing a ton of details about new and old games.

Highlights of the hour and a half show included a nice selection of titles from Bethesda, Activision and others, including short trailers for games like Doom: The Dark Ages, State of Decay 3 and, of course, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. There was a lot going on for a look at Microsoft’s presentation, but we’ve managed to compile all the highlights for you here. If you want a peek behind the curtain of the future of Xbox, look no further.

Doom: The Dark Ages officially revealed by id Software

Doom is back. At the Xbox Games Showcase, series developer id Software revealed Doom: The Dark Ages, a medieval take on the legendary FPS franchise coming to PC and consoles later this year. The first gameplay for the project revealed a game that is unmistakably Doom, while also looking like something fans of the franchise have never seen before. This interesting twist can have leaked before its official unveilingbut this trailer is still impressive.

Check out this first trailer, which features first footage of a chainsaw shield, some impressive mechs for gore, and some brutal new weapons.

State of Decay 3 is back with a new trailer

Developer Undead Labs revealed State of Decay 3 all the way into 2020 and at this year’s Xbox Games Showcase we finally got another trailer. Footage of the zombie survival game has revealed footage encouraging players to look for signs of hope as waves of zombies swarm over them and their friends. The trailer mostly sets up the world of State of Decay 3 while introducing some terrifying new enemies, which you can now watch in the video above.

Dragon Age: Veilguard trailer reveals a better look at BioWare’s next RPG

BioWare showed up at the Xbox Games Showcase to give players what is likely theirs the best look at the newly renamed Dragon Age: The Veilguard yet. Along with plenty of new information, the footage revealed that several familiar faces will also be returning.

Starfield DLC trailer shows first look at Shattered Space

Starfield has been out for almost a year, so it’s finally time to learn more about its first major expansion, Shattered Space. Bethesda has been talking about DLC content for a while now, but today’s trailer finally gave us a clearer look at how it will expand the universe of the already massive sci-fi RPG with colorful new locations and story moments. While no release date was revealed beyond the promise of a 2024 launch, Starfield players can look forward to a full slate of new content launching later tonight.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Trailer Reveals 2025 Launch

The Xbox Games Showcase gave gaming fans plenty of updates on games they already know about, but also revealed new games like Kepler and Sandfall Interactive’s third-person adventure Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Little is known about this mystical Xbox title outside of the fact that it promises to come to Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X | S and PC sometime in 2025. You can watch the first trailer, which is full of mind-blowing locations and strange enemies, above.

The South of Midnight gameplay trailer reveals a magical battle in a swamp

South of Midnight resurfaced at the Xbox Games Showcase to provide a look at its humid swamp settings for battlers to enjoy as they adventure through them. This stylized third person title was before revealed as the next title by the We Happy Few team last year and features mesmerizing stop-motion cutscenes. Expect to see more of his magical alligators and catfish as we get closer to its launch on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X | S and PC in 2025.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater trailer sets up Konami’s remake

Konami has been tight-lipped when it comes to revealing details about its Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. However, during the Xbox Games Showcase, we saw a few new gameplay clips that included important plot points from the opening moments of the game, Snake using his iconic CQC techniques, and even a fight against a helicopter. While more than a few main characters, like the boss himself, made their first appearance in this trailer, we’re still left with no release date.

The Perfect Dark reboot finally resurfaces with a first look at the game

Perfect Dark has remained in the shadows since it was revealed many years ago, but during today’s Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft finally gave us a good long look at what the team at The Initiative and Crystal Dynamics have been up to. The extended look at the gameplay shows Agent Darhk sneaking over and around the city streets while taking down enemies in style. Perfect Dark looks good so far, but we still don’t have a release date. However, the trailer did at least confirm that the title will be available from day one on Game Pass.

Fable creates a first look at the gameplay

Playground Games has shown us a few sneak peeks at its next Fable game, but today’s appearance gave us a solid look at its gameplay for the first time. Specifically, the footage focused on Humphrey, a retired character, as he warns us about what it takes to succeed in this new magical world. We’ll learn more about this new take on the franchise and its giant frogs as we get closer to its 2025 release on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X | S and PC.

Life Is Strange returns to a classic character with a new entry

Square Enix and Deck Nine Games have revealed that the next Life Is Strange game, Life Is Strange: Double Exposure, will focus on the protagonist who started it all: Max Cafield. This grown-up version of the character fans know and love still uses her time-skipping abilities, but this time she’s accidentally thrown herself into a parallel universe. Players will use these abilities to solve the same murder in two timelines when the game launches on October 29, 2024.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle trailer fights the cold

The Indiana Jones franchise is known for its adventures around the world, and in today’s Indiana Jones and the Great Circle game trailer, we get to see the antics Indy will be up to in the Himalayas. MachineGames’ sneak peek focuses mostly on the cinematics this time around, but the video still fits in at least a little bit with the whip project’s energetic gameplay. There’s no release date yet, so we’ll have to wait to see more of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle before it launches sometime this year.

The Avowed trailer dives deep into Obsidian’s next RPG

Avowed will soon join Obsidian’s long list of role-playing games, and at the Xbox Games Showcase today, the team gave us a better look at the lush fantasy world that awaits players when the launch arrives later this year. Yes, there is no release date yet, but the footage shown should help players wait. Along with extensive shots of bright locations filled with vibrant purple and blue hues, we can see battles with fire and ice magic, traps and a variety of enemy types. Notable launches for Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X | S and PC in 2024.

The Gears: E-Day trailer reveals the backstory of the Gears of War game

It’s been five years since the release of Gears 5 and now we finally know who the developer The Coalition is. The first trailer for Gears: E-Day revealed that the long-awaited sequel to Microsoft’s brutal shooter series will be a prequel centered around a young Marcus Phoenix. We’re not too surprised to see the Gears of War franchise finally return with an entry into the mainline Xbox Series X | S, but it’s still so good to see these Lancers picking up steam again.

You can watch the trailer above, but you might want to prepare to fight back tears like a more familiar face and tune in for both to return. No release date has been revealed for Gears: E-Day, but it will launch on Game Pass day one.
