Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event is likely around the corner, as the tech giant historically unveils foldable phones in July or August. We expect a host of products – from phones to a smart ring – to be unveiled.
Artificial intelligence will certainly be a part of this summer’s Unpacked, possibly showcasing new smart phone folding tools and AI-based fitness features.
So, without much further ado, here are five key things we expect from Samsung Galaxy Unpacked in July.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6
First, we’re sure to see the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. You can expect it to be a minor update over its predecessor with an upgraded chip – likely the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 – and potentially a few design changes. But don’t expect radical changes.
More power should provide work for all the built-in AI tools, say live translation and the editing generation tools we’ve seen in the Galaxy S24 series, extended only to foldable phones.
There aren’t many rumors of camera upgrades, so we expect the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s camera suite to remain similar in specs to the Galaxy Z Fold 5. But software improvements are very likely, which we hope Samsung’s foldables can break through our list of the best camera phones.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6
The more interesting foldable phone in Unpacked would have to be the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, which is supposed to have more significant improvements than its book-like foldable counterpart.
Get ready for a 50-megapixel main camera, a bigger battery with a potential 4000mAh, 25W charging, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a new set of colors and a potentially less visible screen crease.
Like the Galaxy Z Fold 6, we can expect AI to play a role in the next-gen Flip, bringing smart tools to help people make better use of the flip screen format.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 7
We should also see a new Galaxy Watch, with the seventh iteration likely to bring improved battery life, more power, better charging and features focused on outdoor activities.
This Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 could also come in Pro and Classic versions, one of which we expect to have a rotating bezel. There are also rumors of a Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, which will be a premium version of the Watch 7 that could potentially come with a micro-LED display, more power and a bigger battery. Plus, it could include advanced fitness and wellness tracking functionality that’s likely limited to the Ultra model.
Samsung Galaxy Ring
Likely to be Unpacked’s most exciting product, the Galaxy Ring is Samsung’s first smart ring, and it promises to have a whole host of fitness and wellness tracking features, all hidden in a neat ring available in several finishes.
Key features of the Galaxy Ring will be the ability to track continuous heart rate during sleep, sleep latency, respiratory rate, and nocturnal movement, which are four metrics that the current Galaxy Watch 6 doesn’t track. These metrics will use sleep metrics to create a ‘vitality’ score and offer sleep apnea detection, but we expect them to feed into other health and fitness assessments as well.
Samsung didn’t say much about the Galaxy Ring’s other features, but I expect its secret sauce will be its tight integration with Samsung Health and the Galaxy ecosystem.
Lots of AI
Finally, you can expect more AI in Unpacked. Given that Apple Intelligence looks to bring AI to all kinds of devices, expect Samsung to do the same, all under the Galaxy AI umbrella.
I can see Samsung supporting AI features for the foldable phones, but also showing off smarter tools and features for its smartwatches – say personalized AI-powered workouts. As mentioned, I’m sure artificial intelligence will play a role in getting the most out of the Galaxy Ring.
I’d also expect Samsung to debut a few more Galaxy AI features for various devices, and also lay out a roadmap for where its AI technology could go; this can give us an idea of what to expect from the Samsung Galaxy S25 in general.
