Many have said it’s been a slow year for games, but it’s hard for me to keep track of all the games released. As someone who loves XDefiant and recently discovered his love for the much improved Fallout 76, I’m staring at the release calendar and wondering how I’ll have time for other games like Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, Once Human and the coming soon, First Descendant .
When two of the games I already play are live service titles, and two of the games I like are also live service, I start to think I won’t be able to play everything. Two is already hard, but four? I’ll have to start creating a schedule for specific days so I can hit everything.
What is the first descendant
Best Answer: The First Descendant is a free-to-play version of the genre that Destiny and Warframe popularized. First Descendant is an open-world MMO-lite looter-shooter. Expect a mix of co-op content that will test the limits of player builds as they take on ever-increasing difficulty across a wide range of content.
The First Descendant is a free-to-play third-person shooter RPG featuring co-op gameplay. Similar to both Destiny and Warframe, players can experience fun and strategic boss battles through 4-player co-op gameplay and a variety of unique characters, exciting shooting and looting. A variety of equipment is required to grow and you can get it by clearing scenario missions within the game or in World Missions where cooperation is crucial to defeating giant bosses.
The player becomes a Descendant and is given the mission to fight against the invaders for the survival of the human race and protect the “Continent of Ingris”. The player can experience a spectacular story by becoming stronger through various missions and stories to finally discover the secret of the Descendants. First Descendant is the first looter shooter available in Unreal Engine 5.
When is The First Descendant coming out?
Best Answer: The First Descendant releases on July 2, 2024 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4.
The First Descendant premiered to the world in July 2022. Just a few months later, The First Descendant went into closed testing. Players from all over the world were eligible to register.
Since then, more and better gameplay has been exposed to the masses and several more tests have been made available to gamers. A few weeks before Summer Game Fest, NEXON Games revealed that a release date is on the horizon. It was then featured at Summer Game Fest.
How much does the first descendant cost and will there be microtransactions?
Best answer: The First Descendant is free to play. While The First Descendant won’t cost anything for the base game, there will be microtransactions, including battle passes.
When The First Descendant was announced as free-to-play, there were a lot of people worried about how the game would be monetized. Considering NEXON’s experience with games like Maple Story, one can only imagine what kind of things NEXON could potentially do. The main concern is whether the game will be pay-to-win.
For those unfamiliar, pay-to-win is a style of free-to-play game where microtransactions can be made that advance the player in some way. Think of it as a time skip compared to everyone else. They are more common in mobile games, but lately things have been getting worse on other platforms.
Maybe you ran out of event tokens for a game; just buy more and keep playing the event! Maybe you’re out of stamina; again, buy more. Maybe you want that shiny new weapon, but it takes another 40 hours of grinding to get it? Pay $40 and it’s yours!
These are the types of transactions people worry about, and rightfully so. Hopefully microtransactions are balanced around cosmetics only. However, I think this would have been announced by now if it was. This is an easy thing to advertise for free brownie PR points.
What platforms is The First Descendant coming to?
Best Answer: The First Descendant is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4.
NEXON Games announced that The First Descendant will return for PC, current and previous generation consoles during its initial launch. Surprisingly, they stuck to it. In an age of gaming where previous-gen console releases are either canceled or no longer in development, it’s surprising to see a last-gen game launch 11 years after they were originally released.
In fact, I believe this is the first and only announced title coming to last-gen consoles that uses Unreal Engine 5. The same engine that powers the graphical power of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is the same engine that will power The First Heir on original Xbox One hardware. That’s impressive!
Is the first descendant coming to Game Pass?
Best Answer: No, The First Descendant is now a free-to-play game. There is currently no reason for it to come to Game Pass. However, there may be some additional benefits along the way.
Since The First Descendant is already free to play, there is no reason for the game to come to Game Pass. As it stands, the game will not be moving to Game Pass. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t see another kind of partnership.
There are many free-to-play games, like Apex Legends, that offer benefits to Game Pass users. Things like cosmetic skins or booster packs are regularly available to those who redeem them on the platform. We will update this document if such a partnership occurs.
Will the first descendant have single player or offline?
Best Answer: Yes and no, The First Descendant can be played alone, but players will need to stay online to play.
The First Descendant is playable for solo players. While I can’t speak to how far people can go, it has been reported that solo running is possible. However, it may be more difficult to do so.
Due to the interconnectedness of the title and the nature of the game mechanics, The First Descendant cannot be played offline. This is to create both a seamless online experience and protection against fraud, hacking or memory editing. Hopefully the servers will be stable on release day!
Will The First Descendant have cross-play or cross-progression?
Best Answer: Yes, The First Descendant will have both cross-play and cross-progression between all platforms.
In an interview with God is Geek, The First Descendant producer Beom-jun Lee said that both will be coming, “Yeah, right. We support both cross-play and cross-progression, so you can play freely on any platform with shared progression.”
This is a huge win for gamers who play on multiple platforms. Having cross-progression between PC platforms and consoles is fantastic for players who want to take advantage of both. I am one of those players!
The lack of cross-play and cross-progression is becoming more noticeable in games like Fallout 76. After playing the PC version for about 30 hours, I had to completely restart when I switched to Xbox.
What are the system requirements for The First Descendant?
Best Answer: For a PC, the system requirements are as follows:
Row 0 – cell 0 | minimum | Row 0 – Cell 2 |
OS | Windows 10 x64 20H2 | Windows 10 x64 20H2 |
processor | Intel i5-3570 / AMD FX-8350 | Intel i7-7700K / AMD Ryzen 5 2600X |
RAM | 8 GB | 16 gigabytes |
GPU | GeForce GTX 1050Ti or AMD Radeon RX 570 Video memory 4GB | GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 5600XT |
Storage | 50 GB | 50 GB |
As you can see, compared to other releases over the last few years, The First Descendant is relatively light in terms of system requirements. I’m already starting to see why it can run on previous generation systems! I wonder if it works on iOS.
What is the frame rate for The First Descendant?
Best Answer: This largely depends on the platform you play on. From the video I’ve seen, the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 are targeting a 60fps performance mode, with an optional 30FPS fidelity mode. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are not limited, running between 30 and 60 FPS depending on XB1/PS4 vs XBX/PS4 Pro.
There is a YouTube user who is testing the gameplay of The First Descendant on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One X and Xbox One. As you can see from the gameplay videos, the performance of the Xbox Series X|S versions is great. It’s the Xbox One X and Xbox One that suffer and in most cases hover around 30 FPS.
The Xbox One X is capable of somewhere between 45 and 50 FPS under most circumstances. This allows VRR-enabled TVs running at 120Hz to compensate a bit for performance reasons. I was unable to find a comparable set of test videos for the PS4 range.
