ForbesToday’s NYT “Relationships” Tips and Answers for Sunday, June 30

Hello, everyone! Welcome to the start of a new week! Somehow we are already in the middle of 2024. The first half of the year was good for me. We hope this continues and that the rest of 2024 is great for you too.

Today’s NYT Connections tips and answers come right away.

How to play Connections

in Connections, you introduce yourself with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by finding the connections between them. Groups can be things like horror movie franchises, a type of verb, or rappers.

There’s only one solution to each puzzle, and you’ll need to be careful when it comes to words that can fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to see the connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to guess, the blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the hardest to figure out. The purple group often involves puns, so keep that in mind.

Choose four words that you think go together and hit send. If you make a guess and it’s wrong, you lose a life. If you’re close to the right group, you might see a message telling you that you’re one word away from getting it right, but you’ll still need to figure out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with some tips and, if you’re really struggling, today’s Connections answered.

This is your final warning!

Today’s Connections the answers are…

  • Yellow group – show the way (DIRECT, GUIDE, GUIDE, MANAGER)
  • Green Group – Scheme (CON, HUSTLE, RACKET, STING)
  • Blue band – seen on US dollar bill (EAGLE, PYRAMID, SEAL, WASHINGTON)
  • Purple group – first word of Canadian provinces/territories (BRITISH, NORTHWEST, NOVA, PRINCE)

My second loss in a row was disappointing because a) it’s Canada Day and that had to click and b) it’s the country I live in. Now I’m worried I won’t be back after my vacation.

I spotted STING, USHER and PRINCE right out of the gate, but didn’t see another mononymous singer to go with them. I then turned my attention to the greens, but made the mistake of turning on PYRAMID instead of STING at the start. I fixed this for my first group.

Then I found the yellow ones before I ran into trouble. I had no idea about blues or purples. NOVA should have been hint enough of the latter. But after a few random guesses, my luck ran out.

That’s all for today Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check out my blog for tips and a walkthrough for Tuesday’s game if you need them.

PS I went to a really fun show on Friday with both The Darkness (a band I love) and the always enjoyable Busted playing. So let’s start this week with my favorite song from the last one.
