The latest Elden Ring Patch weakens a bunch of DLC weapons, Nerfs Final Boss Cheese Strat

Now players must go back to defeating Radahn the good old fashioned way. The update also nerfed Ash of War’s Swift Slash (thank goodness) due to her over-effectiveness in PvP as well as the new shield piercing weapons that started to gain popularity. Guarding while attacking with them will not consume that lots of stamina, allowing players to spam attacks on shield pushers with little consequence.

While many new weapons were nerfed, the Karian Magic Sword was actually set to have higher intelligence scaling, though its overall attack damage was lowered a bit. This should make him more powerful for casting spells via the sword, while also reducing his raw damage appropriately, as this is rarely the move for anyone who prioritizes the intelligence stat.

While weapons are the focus of the balance changes in this patch, it also makes life a little easier when it comes to two of the DLC’s more demanding boss fights.   • Fixed a bug that caused Lightning Perfume Bottle and Frenzyflame Perfume Bottle weapons to deal double damage under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed a bug where the Bloodfiend’s Arm Arcane scaling was higher than intended when setting affinity. The heavy attack status build-up was also reduced.
  • Fixed a bug where the Belief scaling of the Looking Finger weapon was not being applied correctly.
  • Fixed a bug where the damage animation of some Fire Knight Greatsword attacks against players was different than expected.
  • Fixed a bug where the attack affinity of some Fire Knight Greatsword attacks was different than expected.
  • Fixed a bug that caused some affinities for the following weapons to be higher than intended:

  • Several other performance improvements and bug fixes.

Possible fixes for choppy performance

  • For the PS5 version of the game, the unstable frame rate can be improved by using the “Rebuild Database” option from the device’s safe mode.
  • On some PC versions, Ray Tracing can be enabled unintentionally and cause unstable performance. Please check the raytracing setting in “System” > “Graphics Settings” > “Raytracing Quality” from the title screen or in-game menu.
  • In the PC version, the message “Inappropriate activity detected” may appear without cheating.

To fix this problem, please check the integrity of the game files before restarting the game.

  • In the PC version, the unstable frame rate may be caused by third-party applications that control mouse behavior. Disabling these third-party apps can improve performance.
