Best Character in The First Descendant (July 2024 Meta) – Recommended

Of the three characters featured in our S-tier, we recommend using Bunny if you want to use quick attacks on your enemies on the move and Ajax if you want to play full tank build and smash them. Both emerged as top heroes in the meta and in our extensive testing.

Now we’re going to take a deep dive into each character in our First Descendant character tier list, ranking them from top to bottom.

S-Tier characters in The First Descendant

bunny

Bunny is the fastest and best character in The First Descendant and has a Nuker role in the game. She deals continuous damage on the move as she sprints and throws out huge waves of electricity. The more she sprints, the more electrical energy she builds up, causing the range of the shockwave released by her active ability to increase.

She can also summon an Electro Orb, which is extremely useful for electrocuting nearby enemies. However, her best ability is when she moves around the area and electrocutes enemies on the move, which eliminates the use of weapons. Her power alone is enough to take down large waves of enemies, even the larger ones.

Ajax

Ajax is the best tank in The First Descendant and the best starting character in the game. He has incredible defensive power where he can create barriers, shield bubbles and even defenses around the team to support them as they strategize their next attack.

While Ajax’s damage is low, playing as him can be incredibly fun while starting out, and he proves to be a huge asset to any team during tough missions. Ajax also has a stomp ability where he jumps into the air and lands on the ground to hit nearby enemies, stunning them while your team takes them out.

Look

Gley is the ultimate utility merchant in The First Descendant and provides a unique gameplay experience to players. While the other characters focus on filling their ultimate skill meter, Gley restores her HP after each kill to increase her Frenzied status. In her basic state, she deals regular damage and isn’t very effective against enemies.

However, once you activate her deranged state, her attack damage increases and she regenerates less health during this period.

Additionally, her increased sensing ability adds an infinite ammo effect for a set amount of time during Frenzy. During this time, you can use powerful pray and spray weapons in your inventory against your enemies without worrying about running out of ammo.

A-Tier characters in The First Descendant

Eugene

Eugene is an excellent healer in The First Descendant and is the best support addition to any team. His job is to heal teammates and revive them when they are knocked down during a mission. Being revived by Yujin gives you a huge HP boost that stays for a while.

It also summons a recovery drone that can heal characters it’s attached to on the fly. His drone is the best thing about his ability, which can be extremely useful for healing and increasing the attack damage of characters like Ajax on a team that already has a huge tank playstyle.

Restructuring Serum surprisingly debuffs enemies and allows your support units and attackers to launch a massive attack on enemies.

Adhesive

Lepic is a DPS character in The First Descendant and is also one of the three starting characters you are given at the start. His attacks are mostly AoE (area of ​​effect) due to his grenade throws and he also has several cultivation skills.

Although he doesn’t support the team as a whole, he still helps them get out of sticky situations if they’re surrounded by enemies by throwing powerful projectiles and traction grenades. His AoE attacks are some of the best in the games, and he’s a great one to start your Final Descendant with if you prefer a damage-dealing playstyle.

Jaber

Jayber is a hidden trump card among The Final Descendant’s stacked roster of characters that several players will mostly dig. But once you unlock the character and start playing as him, you realize that his turret summoning abilities are overpowering and eliminate the use of any weapons in his inventory.

Although he is a utility dealer and relies on towers, his weakness usually comes from tower placement. If you’ve placed them in the right spots, they can massively help your team in a tough fight while you’re healing your teammates. You can also use Jayber to lock down zones in defensive missions and help your team.

Valby

Valby is another hidden gem who is a permanent DPS character in The First Descendant. She excels at dealing AoE damage to enemies and most of her abilities are centered around water.

She creates puddles that deal continuous damage to enemies and can even liquefy as she moves through enemies while damaging them by forming a trail of water. The best way to play as Valby is to become good at positioning and strategically attacking enemies to be an excellent support for your team.

B-Tier characters in The First Descendant

Viesa

Viessa is another starting character in The First Descendant that players can choose from at the beginning of the game. Of the three, she is the weakest and is the Debuffer in the game. She is good at controlling enemies while freezing them and slowing large waves of enemies in a mission.

However, she doesn’t have as much damage as the other scions and is limited to only crowd control between missions. Although her abilities allow other teammates to break through and land a high damage attack. Players who like to stay behind the lines in combat can use Viessa to support more attacking players in lobbies.

Blair

Blair is a DoT (damage over time) dealer in The First Descendant and deals insane fire damage to enemies. He is incredibly fun to play and he can set the ground on fire and can consume them to gain defensive buffs during a mission.

Although it is able to deal high damage over time in a large area, its HP is extremely low due to its nerfed defensive abilities, making it weaker than other descendants. Also, the cooldown speed of his ability is really slow, which can make the player impatient as his teammates constantly push the attack forward.

Freyna

Freyna is another DoT dealer similar to Blair in The Final Descendant, but instead of fire, she uses poison to damage enemies. She can create poison clouds to deal damage over time to enemies, and she also creates puddles of toxic swamp to deal massive AoE damage to a large group of enemies.

While her damage over time is lethal, due to a lack of less immediate damage, she fails to be an asset to the team. While it deals DPS damage to enemies, it’s not as powerful and instant as Bunny’s burst of power since she’s in the same vein as Blair in the game.

Kyle

If you want a gameplay experience like Iron Man from Marvel Rivals, Kyle is your man in The First Descendant. It flies around the area and gains magnetic power over time. His role in the game is that of Bruiser, which makes him a tank like Ajax, but not as impressive as the latter.

Although he creates barriers and also deals a lot of damage to enemies using his magnetic force abilities, he is best suited for those who want to be their team’s first line of defense. However, keep in mind to keep accumulating magnetic power through in-game skills.

C-Tier characters in The First Descendant

Essiemo

Eisemo is another Burst DPS character in The First Descendant who uses bombs to damage enemies similar to Lepic. He attaches detonators and bombs to enemies and detonates them at the right time to deal damage over a huge area.

While his passive ability allows him to drop a bomb when his shield is depleted, his other abilities are quite ordinary where he simply places landmines and other bombs. After a while playing with Eisemo becomes frustrating, so it is best to avoid this character in the game.

Enzo

Enzo is a purely support character in The First Descendant, whose sole job is to supply his teammates with ammo during a mission. His passive abilities simply give allies an increased maximum ammo capacity on their weapons, which takes the fun out of playing him in the Solo lobby.

His reliance on team abilities and stocking constantly limits him to playing with only a team to get the most out of his skills, be it a defensive mission or an outpost raid in the world.

Colorful

Last on the list is Sharen, who is a melee character in First Descendant. She is a ninja who wields a laser sword and is an expert at dealing melee damage to enemies.

While she can turn invisible and increase damage on her next attack, you’ll be able to focus on just one target at a time during a mission instead of switching between enemies or dealing AoE damage around you. She is the weakest scion in the game and is best avoided during play.
