ForbesToday’s NYT “Relationships” Tips and Answers for Saturday, July 6

Hello, everyone! I hope you are having a great weekend.

Today’s NYT Connections tips and answers come right away.

How to play Connections

in Connections, you introduce yourself with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by finding the connections between them. Groups can be things like horror movie franchises, a type of verb, or rappers.

There’s only one solution to each puzzle, and you’ll need to be careful when it comes to words that can fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to see the connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to guess, the blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the hardest to figure out. The purple group often involves puns, so keep that in mind.

Choose four words that you think go together and hit submit. If you make a guess and it’s wrong, you lose a life. If you’re close to the right group, you might see a message telling you that you’re one word away from getting it right, but you’ll still need to figure out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with some tips and, if you’re really struggling, today’s Connections answered.

This is your final warning!

Today’s Connections the answers are…

  • Yellow group – change of states of matter (CONDENSATION, FREEZING, MELTING, EVAPORATION)
  • Green Group – Replacement (ALTERNATE, SPARE, ROOF, FLOOR)
  • Blue Group – slang names of professions (HOP, HACK, SHRINK, SUIT)
  • Purple group – Mariah Carey’s number one hits (FANTASY, HERO, HONEY, SOMEDAY)

Boo, my streak is over after five wins.

The yellows got me. My first guess was SHRINK, MEL, CONDENSE and EVAPORATE. After that didn’t work, I looked elsewhere and found the green ones, thanks to BACKUP and ALTERNATE.

I had no idea about the blues or purples, other than the vague hint that COPPER didn’t refer to the metal. So I used the trial and error approach to the yellows. Unfortunately, every guess I made involved SHRINK, so I was doomed. Whoop whoop.

That’s all for today Connections clues and answers. Don’t forget to check my blog for tips and a solution for Monday’s game if you need them.

PS There’s really only one take on today’s song.
