HP has unveiled the “world’s highest-performing AI PC”, the OmniBook Ultra, which features AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 APU with up to 55 TOPs.

HP is ready to show its dominance in the PC segment with artificial intelligence through its latest laptop version. The company has been quiet for quite some time, amid rivals like ASUS and Acer showing off their AI PC offerings. However, it looks like HP has also decided to break the silence in style. The company unveiled its most powerful OmniBook Ultra AI laptop computer at the Imagine AI event held in New York last Thursday. At the event, HP showed huge optimism about the integration of AI into consumer products, claiming that it enables creativity for everyone.

While the company didn’t reveal the laptop’s full specs, it touted it as the “highest-performing AI PC” and revealed that it packs the power of AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 “Strix” APU.

HP AI Companion optimizes the device for greater productivity and brings AI tools and solutions to the device. It will soon offer advanced functionality for managing PC settings and troubleshooting HP products.
  • Enables immersive and seamless collaboration: Experience life seamlessly with collaboration tools like a 9-megapixel AI-enabled high-resolution camera using the Poly Camera Pro app and Windows Studio Effects.

Since the focus was all on AI, HP showed off the AI ​​TOPS performance they managed to squeeze out of the Omnibook Ultra, and according to the company, it managed to deliver 55 NPU TOPS, which is 5 TOPS higher than the officially rated 50 TOPS of the same family Ryzen AI 300.

Benchmarking the SoC in the HP OmniBook Ultra against rivals such as Apple’s M4 chip, the NPU performance is reported to be 45% higher and almost double what the M3 offers. HP says that with AMD’s partnership, they’ve been able to create a device that offers the fastest AI performance in the industry, and their OmniBook Ultra features a “co-engineered” design, which is why the Ryzen AI 300 chip delivers 55 TOPS of AI performance. It seems that HP was able to wring out additional NPU TOPS by increasing the clock speed of the AI ​​engine while working with AMD.

The HP OmniBook Ultra will also be certified under Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC program. It will offer up to 21 hours of battery life and HP AI Companion for a personalized experience. The laptop also offers an IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 2240 x 1400 with a brightness of up to 300 nits. Interestingly, the OmniBook Ultra will also offer Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, making it the first laptop in AMD’s camp to include the standard.

As for pricing, the OmniBook Ultra will retail for $1,449.99 and is expected to be available in early August.
