AMD Ryzen 9000 CPUs show strong pre-sale reception in China, first pre-builds listed and priced as thousands await Zen 5 launch

AMD Ryzen 9000 pre-sales have begun in China and are showing strong reception from hardware enthusiasts ahead of Zen 5’s retail launch.

First off-the-shelf AMD Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” processors available for pre-order alongside CPU pre-sales, strong demand ahead of launch in China

China’s leading hardware retailer, JD.com, has finally announced the AMD Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” desktop processors. The processors are listed on a dedicated page along with a few details explaining the pre-sale and pre-order process. The page also lists several prizes that users can access, along with a range of pre-built PCs featuring the latest Ryzen 9000 processors, plus the best part is that these PCs are already listed with prices so you can get an idea what are these chips going to retail for.

The pre-sale procedure in China is slightly different from other markets, especially the US and EU. Customers will be able to place orders on JD.com from July 26 to August 15. Those who pre-order the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X processors ahead of the launch will receive a gift in the form of a Valkyrie R125 Loki CPU Cooler with the ‘Once Human’ theme. It is a tower type CPU and includes a magnetic LED cover on top that can be customized. The cooler will be given to the first 150 pre-orders.

Moving on to the more interesting details, JD.com also lists the total number of pre-orders placed, and it looks like early adoption is very strong.

Although reviews don’t arrive until next month, the Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X managed to rack up over 2500+ pre-orders, while the Ryzen 9 9900X and Ryzen 9 9950X racked up over 3700+ pre-orders (as of 7/27/2024). Pre-ordering means that customers will have to pay a small fee to process their orders when the chips finally launch. This is done to avoid fake pre-orders.

When it comes to pre-built PCs, there are a range of options available with prices starting at:

  • Ryzen 9 9950X – 7799 RMB ($1068 US) – CPU+32GB+1TB+B650M AORUS PRO AX+360mm AIO
  • Ryzen 9 9900X – 6449 RMB ($889 US) – CPU+32GB+1TB+B650M AORUS PRO AX+360mm AIO
  • Ryzen 7 9700X – 4649 RMB ($641 US) – CPU+32GB+1TB+B650M AORUS PRO AX+360mm AIO
  • Ryzen 5 9600X – 3949 RMB ($544 US) – CPU+32GB+1TB+B650M AORUS PRO AX+360mm AIO

The AMD Ryzen 5 9600X can also be found in pre-built PCs priced at RMB 2,999 or US$413, while the Ryzen 7 9700X is available for RMB 3,799 or US$523. The PCs come with 16 GB DDR5 memory (5200 MT/s), 500 GB NVMe memory, B650 motherboard, chassis, PSU and air cooler. These alone should cost around US$150, which gives us around US$250 for the Ryzen 5 9600X and US$370 for the Ryzen 7 9700X processors.

All in all, these prices seem very attractive to Chinese customers planning to buy new PCs equipped with the latest AMD Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” desktop processors. Once again, we only know some tentative prices based on retail listings, while the official ones will be revealed closer to launch. In terms of launch, the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X will be the first to hit retail shelves on August 8, while the Ryzen 9 9900X and Ryzen 5 9950X will be released on August 15.
