Moviegoer slams AMC Theaters for blatant cash grab after spotting hidden charge on their receipt: ‘You’re not getting it to my house’

A moviegoer lashed out at AMC Theaters after discovering an insidious charge on their concession receipt.

TikToker Kikntiger described his disappointment in a video titled: “Pretty weak move by AMC Theatres.” The clip has received 1.2 million views as of Thursday.

In it, he explained how after ordering popcorn and two large drinks for nearly $24, he was then charged an additional $2 delivery fee on top of the usual $1 service charge.

“Delivery fee INSIDE a movie theater is insane,” he wrote alongside the clip.

“Companies are getting out of hand with their fees,” Kicktiger began in his 45-second speech.

“It’s for movie theater discounts. You know, it’s not Door Dash!’ he said in bewilderment, referring to the popular food delivery app.

“It’s at my local movie theater where the only way you can get snacks is to have them delivered right to your seat,” Kikntiger continued.

“You can’t just go to the snack bar, order whatever you want and go to the theater with it. So, fine, whatever – but then they charge you $2 just to deliver it 25 feet from the kitchen?

“Like you won’t drive it to my house.” And then service charge in dollars? For what? For the privilege of ordering food?

Kikntiger said he felt he needed to speak out in this particular case because the $2 fee is inevitable if you buy food at the AMC location he frequents.

“I understand concessions are expensive; I don’t care about that. But you’re just hitting me with a $2 fee that I can’t avoid? Ridiculous,” he says, ending his video.

The post drew a lot of likes from other online followers.

“Just bring your food. They never check. You can literally bring in a bag full of food and drink,” one commenter advised.

“I used to work at AMC Dine-In and even I can’t wrap my head around these fees,” added another.

“Are they going to start charging a filling fee for the sodas and a fee to pack the popcorn?” wondered a third.

Others were less yielding to Kikntiger’s grip.

“If you’re going to pay $7.50 for a Coke Zero, you might as well pay $2,” suggested one.

“Dude, if you want them to work for free, they should bring it to you while you sit and rest. Come on, stop being Karen. Ken,” added a second.

It seems that adding fees is nothing new with a Reddit thread discussing the topic in 2021.

“After ordering DINE IN theater tickets online, I am asked if I want to order food ahead of time. I thought this looked like a nice new feature, after adding my food order I was presented with the price and there was a $2.00 delivery fee. I just canceled the order thinking I’d like to see them present this in person,” the Redditer wrote.

The poster suggested that the fees should be included in the total price of the items being ordered, rather than being separated out as an additional charge at the end of the checkout.

“It just seems so stupid. This is DINE IN, where the whole point is to order food and have it delivered to your seat,” they added.

A check of Dine-In AMC locations confirms that an additional $3 is added to each food order tab. According to the TikTok video, the fee consists of a $2 delivery fee and a $1 service fee.

AMC locations without the Dine-In option charge a flat $1 service fee.
