Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Cutscene Suggests We’re Now Saving the Justice League – IGN

A new Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League cutscene has sparked debate about the direction the story is going as the final season teases the next playable character.

Ms. Freeze was added to Rocksteady’s controversial live-action shooter last week as part of the Season 2 launch, and with it came a cutscene that set tongues wagging in the game’s small but loyal community.

Attention! Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League Season 2 spoilers follow:

The new cutscene shows the return of The Flash after the Suicide Squad rescues him from captivity by killing another Brainiac after the launch as part of Season 2. The Suicide Squad killed The Flash along with other corrupt members of the Justice League in an attempt to save Metropolis from destruction at the hands of Brainiac in the main story of the main game.

Some called the story development a surprise, while others said a post-release plot twist that saw the return of the “good” members of the Justice League was always on the cards. Either way, players are wondering about the exact nature of the Flash’s return, what it means for Brainiac’s master plan, and raising the possibility that other heroes apparently killed off by Suicide Squad, including Batman, Green Lantern, and Superman, are also set to return .

One of the most controversial story moments in the main Suicide Squad game is the death of the corrupt Batman from the Arkham trilogy, who is unceremoniously executed by Harley Quinn. Some criticized the death, saying it failed to give the character, voiced by the late Kevin Conroy, the send-off he deserved.

But could Batman now return along with more voice work from Kevin Conroy? This new cutscene suggests that the Suicide Squad killed clones of the original members of the Justice League during the main story, with Brainiac holding the real deals hostage. However, some speculate that the Suicide Squad did indeed kill the original members of the Justice League, but Brainiac revived them, and now it’s up to Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and King Shark to save them.

Whatever the case, in the cutscene, The Flash sees the Suicide Squad and wonders why they’re not in prison before collapsing. The character’s return is not mentioned again.

Perhaps more reveals and true members of the Justice League will appear in Season 3, which looks set to add Lawless as a playable character. Although the list of post-launch DLC characters was already leaked via datamine, Rocksteady teased their inclusion with changes to Metropolis that clearly show who’s next. Season 1, for example, teased the arrival of Ms. Freeze with a cold change in Metropolis, and now players have noticed another change that suggests Lawless is coming soon. After Lawless, Deathstroke is expected to round out the roster of playable characters for the first year.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was of course panned by critics upon launch and has an extremely low number of players on Steam. Part of the disappointment stems from Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League no is another Batman game from Rocksteady, albeit set in the Arkhamverse. The developer’s single-player Arkham series is well-loved by fans, as in 2011. Batman: Arkham City in particular is maintained as one of the greatest, if not on the greatest superhero video games of all time.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, on the other hand, is a live-action third-person shooter where Batman is the villain. Shortly after the game’s release in February 2024, publisher Warner Bros. admitted the failure of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League contributed to a $200 million hit to earnings.

Last month, Warner Bros. told IGN as much Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will see its first year of support, but declined to comment on what happens next. The question is, will Rocksteady’s apparent post-launch plan to have the Suicide Squad turn to saving the Justice League after killing them be fully realized?
